Pahalgam
Pahalgam is in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, in the western part of the state. It is situated in the great Himalayan range at a height of 2130 meters above sea level. It is located in the Liddar Valley, alongside the Liddar River. Pahalgam is located 95 kilometers east of Srinagar.
Pahalgam, the jewel of the wonderful Liddar valley in the high Himalayas, is known for its scenic beauty. Hiking, trekking, and fishing are all popular activities in the area. It also serves as the starting point for the annual pilgrimage to Amarnath’s holy cave.
Pahalgam is also known as a spiritual destination since it is the beginning point of the Amarnath Yatra, which is conducted by Hindu pilgrims during the months of June and August and begins in the nearby village of Chandanwadi.
Pahalgam is home to a number of hiking and trekking trails. These places can even be explored on horseback. The Liddar River is a popular angling destination for visitors. There are stretches of this river where you can catch trout. Travelers who want to go fishing must first obtain a fishing license from Srinagar’s Directorate of Fisheries.
